Description
Touch of Evil (1958) is a great American film noir crime thriller, dark mystery, and cult classic - another technical masterpiece from writer-director-actor Orson Welles. It was Orson Welles' fifth Hollywood film - and it was his last American film. Touch of Evil was the last great film noir during the so-called 'classic' era of noirs, from the early 1940s to the late 1950s. When a car bomb explodes on the American side of the U.S./Mexico border, Mexican drug enforcement agent Miguel Vargas (Charlton Heston) begins his investigation, along with American police captain Hank Quinlan (Orson Welles) . When Vargas begins to suspect that Quinlan and his shady partner, Menzies (Joseph Calleia), are planting evidence to frame an innocent man, his investigations into their possible corruption quickly put himself and his new bride, Susie (Janet Leigh), in jeopardy.

In this monster classic Lon Chaney Jr. embodies Larry Talbot, who returns to Wales when his brother dies and reconciles with his father (Claude Rains). While there, he visits an antique shop and, hoping to impress the attractive shopkeeper Gwen (Evelyn Ankers), buys a silver walking cane and succeeds. That same night he kills a wolf with it, only to later learn that he actually killed a man (Bela Lugosi). Tortured by his action, a gypsy (Maria Ouspenskaya) explains that it was her son, a werewolf, that he killed, and that Larry is now one himself.
